HealthPoint is a non-profit, federally-designated Regional Extension Center that is a part of Dakota State University. HealthPOINT exists to provide guidance and support to South Dakota healthcare professionals and organizations to help them implement an EHR. This is an introduction to who we are and what we do.
We understand the complexity of HIPAA, the HITECH Act and Meaningful Use.
Our job is to help make it understandable, manageable and effective in the way it was intended. There is no doubt the final impact of the healthcare industry transition to EHR will be positive. The unbelievable stories of records lost from Katrina and Joplin confirm the critical need for an EHR to maintain quality healthcare when the unexpected occurs. But managing the transition is a complex technology project and one that is typically not in the skillset of a small independent healthcare practice. HealthPOINT was created to help healthcare professionals manage the project efficiently. We are your partner in managing the implementation of an EHR.

Our assistance can manage the transition within the Incentive budget
You don’t have to spend a dollar more than the incentive if you don’t want to. The incentive funds should be sufficient enough to pay for the transition. We can help you assess the EHR software that is right for your practice and develop the budget and timeline to meet the requirements for Meaningful Use and receive the incentive payments in a timely manner.
HealthPOINT has developed the Priority Partner program to get started at no cost
Organizing the project is a big first step. Identifying where your practice stands in the meaningful use process and organizing what needs to be done is the first step. The Priority Partner program uses online software tools that assist in efficiently collecting the right information to generate project tools and timelines. You can manage this process yourself but you don’t have to do it by yourself. We provide webinars, workshops and portals for you and your team. And whenever you have questions, we are there to help. As a federally-designated, non-profit organization, our business is sustained through grants. This enables us to provide premium consulting services to South Dakota healthcare professionals that enable the benefits of an EHR efficiently.
